Meet Melissa
"Being an artist fills my days with awe and wonder. When I paint, it awakens something in me, brings growth, and helps me appreciate things I might have otherwise overlooked. If each day I get to see something in a new way, I am grateful—and that makes it a good day. And in the end, I get to share a little of that beauty with the world.”
The Act of Creating
Melissa's creative process embodies the heart of her artistic expression: layers upon layers, mirroring the simple elegance and wonder she finds in the world around her. Through mixed media filled with collage, charcoal, and oil paint, Melissa thoughtfully explores transparency, light, and movement. Each piece is a delicate dance of creating and covering, revealing the beauty that lies within.
My Story
From a young age, growing up in the breathtaking Rocky Mountains, I felt an undeniable pull toward art. It all began with a simple drawing of my childhood dog—a moment that sparked a passion that would only grow. Over the years, that love for creating led me to paint murals for high schools, churches, and even a children's shelter. Art has always been woven into who I am. When I create, something within me comes alive. It’s more than just a passion; it’s a gift I’m meant to share. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to learn and grow—earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts and completing an intensive year-long Mastery Program at the Milan Art Institute.
My art is a celebration of beauty—woven into the fabric of everyday life. I'm drawn to jewel-toned colors and use a signature blend of abstract realism, but at the core of my work is the belief that design has meaning and that the human soul reflects a deeper power. With gentle layers and delicate refinements, my art mirrors life's journey, revealing depth, grace, and glimpses of the divine. I truly believe that in God's hands, even the smallest moments shine with wonder.

Currently, I'm exploring expressive figurative work within my vibrant local art community. My studio, nestled near the U.S. Capitol, is a constant source of culture and inspiration. When I'm not painting, you'll find me outdoors, walking my dog, and enjoying precious moments with my amazing husband and two young boys. I'm also dreaming of future travels through Europe, where I hope to immerse myself in the romance of the countryside.
I hope my art speaks to your heart and invites you to see the world with fresh eyes—full of light, love, and God's grace.
